Multidisciplinary & Art Healing
Juan Francisco Alvarez, an Ecuadorian-Spaniard economist turned artist, weaves the threads of health and creativity in his multidisciplinary work. A graduate of universities in Ecuador, France, and the United States, his artistry and advocacy reflect a life spent bridging disciplines. Initially drawn to the intricate systems of healthcare, Juan Francisco dedicated his career to expanding access to innovative medicine, shaping the lives of millions. This journey inspired a passion for holistic care, where science and art converge to educate, heal, and enable emotional expression.
His desire to integrate health and art led him to Harvard University, where he earned a master’s in public health and laid the foundation for Asiri Health Arts (AHA), a nonprofit merging evidence-based mental health interventions with artistic expression. Juan Francisco’s work invites people to become co-creators, fostering collective creativity as a tool for dismantling stigma and fostering connection. Through workshops and community initiatives, he equips students, teachers, and parents with tools for psychosocial care, creating spaces for “AHA” moments of healing and understanding.
A recipient of prestigious scholarships at Harvard, Juan Francisco’s work exemplifies art as a catalyst for education and mental well-being. Beyond his professional pursuits, he finds joy in cultural exploration, literature, and hiking in nature.
