El viaje y la dedicación de Blanca Bonilla tanto a las artes como a su comunidad es verdaderamente inspirador. Nacida en Lares, Puerto Rico, la temprana mudanza de Blanca a Boston a la edad de trece años preparó el escenario para su impactante vida en Boston. Ella es una de trece hijos y producto de las Escuelas Públicas de Boston.
Después de graduarse de Wheelock College, Blanca se convirtió en el enlace con el difunto Representante Kevin Fitzgerald, demostrando su compromiso de servir a la comunidad latina. Su amor por el teatro la llevó a convertirse en instructora de teatro en la Escuela Tobin en Mission Hill, donde fundó el Tobin Family Theatre.
Se unió a la gira de escritoras e intérpretes de Street Feet Women’s Touring y colaboró en la publicación de “Many Voices, The Road to Beijing & Laughing in the Kitchen”.
Como miembro fundador de la Boston Arts Academy (BAA), Blanca contribuyó significativamente durante más de 20 años. Al frente de la oficina de admisiones, garantizó un proceso de audición justo para los estudiantes latinos de todo el estado. La participación de Blanca se extendió más allá de Boston, ya que ella, junto con otros dos profesores de BAA, llevó a estudiantes a la República Dominicana para enseñar artes en Cabarete, documentando el proceso y el crecimiento de los estudiantes.

Blanca Bonilla’s journey and dedication to both the arts and her community is truly inspiring. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, Blanca’s early relocation to Boston at the age of thirteen set the stage for her impactful life in Boston. She is one of thirteen children and a product of Boston Public Schools.
After graduating from Wheelock College, Blanca became the liaison to the late Representative Kevin Fitzgerald, demonstrating her commitment to serving the Latino community. Her love for theater led her to become a theater instructor at the Tobin School in Mission Hill, where she founded the Tobin Family Theatre.
Joining the Street Feet Women’s Touring Company of writers and performers, she collaborated on the publishing of “Many Voices, The Road to Beijing & Laughing in the Kitchen.”
As a founding member of the Boston Arts Academy (BAA), Blanca contributed significantly for over 20 years. Heading the admissions office, she ensured a fair audition process for Latino students from around the state. Blanca’s involvement extended beyond Boston, as she, along with two other teachers from BAA, took students to the Dominican Republic to teach arts in Cabarete, documenting the process and the students’ growth.
Blanca’s recent achievements include the creation of the documentary “Two Languages One Community,” based on Margarita Muniz ‘struggles with bilingual education. The film debuted to a full house at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and has been featured in Cuba and various festivals worldwide. In addition, she is the producer and director of the Latino Pioneers in Boston chapter #1 – a collection of stories of Latinos who paved the way for the next generations. Premiered at the Boston Public Library in Copley and featured at Harvard, Tufts, Roxbury Public Library and Jamaica Plain Public Library. She is currently working on the Latino Pioneers in Boston #2.
