We believe that successful nonprofits require healthy, thriving boards of directors. To that end, the A&BC’s Business on Board program has been providing board service training for executives as well as board development consulting resources since 2002. More than ever, cultural nonprofits need strong boards of directors with passionate, engaged members who share a vision for the organization.
This past fiscal year we provided more than a dozen open enrollment and in-house corporate trainings to 250+ Boston-area executives. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, we have recently pivoted our workshops to virtual engagements to great success.
Nonprofit organizations need talented and engaged business professionals who can help guide and govern their efforts to serve their constituents and communities. While many professionals are interested in board service, they often lack the training and access they need to make that next step. Business on Board works to remove the barriers between interest and engagement through our open enrollment workshops for executives. We also provide custom engagements for corporations and consulting services for nonprofits.

“Your Business on Board seminar was smart, insightful, comprehensive, and offered confidence-building steps for those of us who can drive but struggle finding a good map to our destination—thank you for that. The social aspect of board relationships was a new idea to me, and it really was a revelation for me going forward in the hopes of being a better board member and leader.” –Ken Yagoda

Designed for executives and nonprofit administrators alike, these half-day workshops cover the future of philanthropy, board governance and dynamics, financial oversight, strategic planning, legal and fiduciary responsibilities, fundraising and development strategies, and how to find the right match.
The A&BC provides professional development seminars and customized consulting to companies that see the myriad benefits of nonprofit stewardship. We have longstanding relationships with firms such as State Street, Bank of America, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and many more.
We support nonprofits with consulting services that address board member onboarding, governance issues, and more. We also connect organizations to legal and HR support through our broader platform of programs.
