Marin Murakoshi is a Japanese artist living and working in the U.S., now lives and works in Concord, MA with her husband, two school aged children and two mischievous cats. She grew up in one of the oldest small villages of Ishigaki island, Okinawa, Japan. Before moving to Boston in 2016, she lived in Osaka, New York, Los Angeles and Seattle.
Over the years, she focused on direct-carving of wood and stone. She creates figurative and semi-abstract forms through carving and often lets the material take its own shape.
In recent years, she has put effort into participating in International Sculpture Symposiums of stone and snow, and also several local public art projects. In addition to sculpting using traditional techniques such as stone and wood carving, “Rubbish Revival” – using repurposed found materials for sculptures – is her most recent project since the pandemic.
