Maritza Lezama, a versatile artist born in Mexico and now residing in Lowell since 2016, is known for her exploration of various mediums, including drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and fabric artistry. Her work is characterized by a commitment to experimentation and introspection, drawing inspiration from her culture, memories, and subconscious.
A graduate of Lowell High School, Maritza’s artistic journey has flourished at Refuge Art School, where she now serves as a program coordinator and ceramics co-instructor. She has started showcasing her work in galleries, including a recent exhibition at Brew’d Awakening Coffeehouse.
Her dedication to life-long learning led her to pursue coursework at Middlesex Community College in liberal arts and psychology. While her formal education is currently on hold, she remains passionate about personal growth and artistic development. In an exciting new chapter, Maritza is collaborating with another artist to establish their own studio and launch their art business.
